The Amana brand has a long heritage going back to 1934 when Amana, Iowa native George Foerstner built the first dependable beverage cooler. Shortly after, the company introduced the walk-in beverage cooler, also known as a cold storage locker which became a ‘must have’ for commercial businesses like grocery stores and restaurants. During World War II Amana worked extensively with the U.S. military and was awarded the Army-Navy ‘E’ Award for excellence for supplying essential cooling equipment.

After the war, Amana quickly became an American institution in the manufacture of commercial and residential appliances and an extensive range of top quality heating and cooling equipment.

Repeatedly recognized as some of the most energy-efficient air conditioners, heat pumps and gas furnaces, Amana equipment is assembled in facilities located in Texas and Tennessee.
